My mum made Agar with Japanese walnuts for New Year's eve and the New year. I like them but it's hard to get here. I tried with pecans instead of walnuts.

The ingredients needed to make Pecan Agar:
  1. Take 1000 ml (4cup+2Tbsp) water
  2. Take 2 sticks (8 g) agar
  3. Prepare 130 g (1/2 cup) packed brown sugar

  5. Get 150 g (11/2 cups) pecans, roasted and finely chopped

Steps to make Pecan Agar:
  1. Roast pecans and chop finely. I cooked at 100°C/210°F for 30 mins. I read at 160°/320° for 5 mins is fine.
  2. Put water in a pan and heat over moderate heat. Pour agar while the water is still cold.
  3. Cook it continuously stirring until the agar is completely dissolved.
  4. After the agar is dissolved and boiling, simmer a couple more minutes.
  5. Add sugar and salt, mix until dissolved.
  6. Add pecans and mix well.
  7. Pour the agar mixture into your dish. Let it cool for 10 mins.
  8. Put it in the fridge and serve cool :)

Add sugar-agar mixture, bring to boil and cook for a minute on medium heat. Stir in the heavy cream and pecans. Pour over the crust, trying not to get the filling between the crust and the pan. I like them but it's hard to get here. I tried with pecans instead of walnuts.
